Bicyclist killed after struck on Texas 71 in Travis County
A bicyclist was killed after being struck in traffic early Monday near Austin-Bergstrom International Airport, Austin-Travis County EMS medics said.
Medics responded at 5:50 a.m. to the westbound lanes of the 1500 block of Texas 71, just east of U.S. 183, for the incident, which involved a vehicle and the bicycle.
An adult was pronounced dead at the scene, medics said.
The westbound lanes of the highway east of U.S. 183 were briefly closed.
Police ID teen killed in fiery crash in North Austin
A teenager who crashed into a cement base in the median off Interstate 35 last week in North Austin has been identified as 17-year-old Alejandro Huerta Hernandez, Austin police said.
Officers responded last Tuesday at 11:50 p.m. to the 10500 block of the highway’s northbound service road, just south of Braker Lane, for a crash involving one vehicle.
Police found Hernandez unresponsive in his green 2005 Honda Accord, which then caught fire.
Hernandez was carried away from the vehicle and Austin-Travis County EMS medics and Austin fire crews attempted to save him.
Hernandez was pronounced dead at the scene at 12:34 a.m. on Wednesday.

Pedestrian struck in traffic on Rundberg dies
A pedestrian who was struck while crossing Rundberg Lane in Northeast Austin last month has died, Austin police said.
Officers responded on July 17 at 9:43 a.m. to the 800 block of East Rundberg Lane, just off of Interstate 35.
Investigators found that a white 2002 Hyundai Accent was traveling east on Rundberg Lane when it hit 71-year-old Ronnie Dawson Lindsey as he tried to cross the street from north to south.
Lindsey was taken to Dell Seton Medical Center, where he died on July 24 at 2:17 p.m.
The driver of the Hyundai remained at the scene of the crash and is cooperating with investigators, police said. Impairment or excessive speed do not appear to be a factor in the incident, authorities said.
